A look at the Stanley Cup chances for both the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks as well as what each team looks to bring to this series.

Eastern Conference Champion Ottawa Senators:

The Ottawa Senators big line of Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza has been the hottest line in the NHL playoffs and they look to push their offensive attack on the Anaheim Ducks and bring the Cup to Ottawa.

It has taken Ottawa only 15 total games this playoff to reach the Stanley Cup finals, with each series going to only 5 games against Pittsburgh, New Jersey and Buffalo.

Ottawa also has most of Canada behind them as they look to bring the Cup back north of the border for the first time since the Montreal Canadiens did so in 1993 (although I’m sure many Toronto fans will be Ducks fans this time around in the Stanley Cup).

3 Key Players to Watch

Dany Heatley- The Heatley, Alffy, Spezza line has recorded a point in all but one game this playoffs.

Daniel Alfredsson- Alfredsson answered the call this playoffs and looks for his success to continue and win his first championship.

Jason Spezza- Spezza’s pure offensive talent has been evident this playoff with his point total reaching 20 points.

Western Conference Champion Anaheim Ducks:

The Ducks were able to hold off a late third period attack in game 6 against the Detroit Red Wings and claim a 4-3 victory clinching them a birth in their second Stanley Cup in 4 years.

The Anaheim Ducks have a strong mix of veterans and youth to push the puck up the ice and players like Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf to lead the offensive attack. Their defensive pairing of Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer is not only the best in these playoffs but may also be one of if not the best of all time.

For the Ducks it will come down to experience and defense in order to beat out the Senators, they need to try to accomplish what all others have failed to do thus far and that is shut down the Senators first line. But with Pronger, Niedermayer and Conn Smyth winner Giguere in net it may be possible.

3 Key Players to Watch

J.S. Giguere- The former Conn Smyth trophy winner looks to hold off the Ottawa attack.

Teemu Selanne- The Finnish Flash was able to score big goals against Detroit and looks for that to continue and receive his first ever Stanley Cup.

Scott Niedermayer- The captain and former Cup champion with the Devils will try to lead the team to its first ever Stanley Cup.

First game Monday May 28th @ 8pm est in Anaheim.

Prediction: Along with their experience and defensive strength the Ducks will win their first ever Stanley Cup in 6 games.
